Fairway Wood Fitting

A fairway wood earns its keep two ways — launching cleanly off a tee and getting through turf from a tight lie without twisting open. Most fittings only check the first one.

Off the Tee Is Only Half the Fitting

We start every fairway wood session on a tee, logging ball speed and descent angle the same way we would for a driver. Then we move to a turf mat set to match a tight fairway lie, because sole camber and head weighting that feel great off a tee can behave very differently once the leading edge has to pass through grass first.

Players who play a lot of firm summer Bermuda fairways often need a different camber than players who mostly see softer, longer grass — a distinction a tee-only fitting misses completely.

Build Considerations

What We Adjust Together

Sole Camber

How rounded the sole is from heel to toe changes how forgiving the head is on a slightly fat or thin strike off turf.

Loft & Face Depth

Shallower faces generally launch higher for a given loft; deeper faces suit players who prefer a lower, more piercing ball flight.

Shaft Weight

A slightly heavier shaft than your driver often improves strike consistency from turf, even at the cost of a little clubhead speed.

Sessions run 45–60 minutes and always include turf-mat testing, not just tee shots.
